A Hop, Skip, and a Jump through Europe.

I know that the title of my blog is UGANDA, but I would like to take this first blog to highlight the two weeks I traveled through Europe. Me and seven other girls from the nursing class going to Uganda left two weeks early; we went to Ireland for one week, and Spain for one week.

In Ireland we traveled to Cork for the first three days and visited the Blarney Castle- I kissed the blarney stone- and cliffs of Moher. We then traveled to Dublin and did a tour of the Guinness Brewery- it is a little dark for my taste- but still good. The statue I am with is "Molly Malone;" we learned a song about her while on one of our day trips.

In Spain we first traveled from Barcelona to Valencia for "La Toma Tina" (The tomato fight). I did not participate but three of the girls in my group did it and had a blast. I on the other hand, spent my days in Valencia wondering the streets, eating paellas, and going to a beach on the Mediterranean- life is rough, I tell ya what. After Valencia we spent five days in Barcelona. One of my favorite parts of Barcelona was the Gaudi architecture- as you can see by the multiple pictures I have posted. Below is also a picture of us riding the metro- I had fun figuring out how to navigate through the city. The circular building is the old bull fighting ring which is now a shopping mall. Finally, the last picture is of the "Magic Fountain" light show. It was beautiful and a fun way to spend one of our last nights in Spain.

Ok, that will be the most pictures I post in one blog. If you made it this far- thank you.
Coming soon:  stories from my first few days in UGANDA.
