I"M STILL ALIVE!!
Sorry for the delay everyone! The last two weeks have been very busy and I have been struggling with some GI issues (gotta love traveling) So, over the next couple of days hold on to your hats because I have a lot to share with you!
First, I will go back to our second week in Uganda when my friend, Steven, took the group for a walk to show is where he grew up and to see the sights of Mukono. Steven is a fun-loving Ugandan! I met him while I was sitting in the dinning hall and he walked up and said "Hey girl, What's up?"-- it was the start of a beautiful friendship. Steven really knows his way around Mukono and has taken us to the markets and shops showing us, Muzungus (White-people), the ropes.
This is where Steven grew up. It over looks lake Victoria in the from and has monkeys in the forest behind.
While we were walking, there were monkeys all over the place: big ones, littles ones; ones with red butts. I now see monkeys all over UCU campus, but still just as excited.
Here, we are on top of a hill overlooking the city of Mukono.
STEVENBOYYI AND KELSEY!!! We have had many spontaneous photo shoots together.
It is the rainy season here now, and the rain brings people together-- literally-- we all go running for shelter when the random, no warning down pour starts. That is how we met this cutie. During the walk it started to rain, so we ran to this open air shelter house/ chapel. We got to know some of the people, but this cutie got all the pictures.
We made it back safely after the rain stopped. We went to Stevens hostel, where he lives, and he showed us his art that he sells. He uses scraps of paper that he finds on the ground to make the clothes, the rest is free hand drawings with pen on card-stock. I have already bought some and plan to get more! (I'll take orders if anyone wants some!)
Keep coming back!!! many more stories from Uganda to come soon!!
I like the art. Unique. Kid so cute in #8.
